No tricks. Only treats.

That line's been on the shopfront since day one — a promise more than a slogan: real charcoal, a spit that actually turns, and a kitchen you could watch from the pavement if you wanted to.

A corner you can smell before you see it

Shawaya Souk sits on the corner plot by the Ayyappa Temple on Tavarekere Main Road — a small footprint doing a big job. The spit turns through the evening, the smoke drifts out over the pavement, and by the time you've crossed the road you already know what you're ordering.

The name says it plainly: shawaya is the grill, souk is the market it belongs in. It's built for people walking past who weren't planning to stop — and do.

Why people stop

Real charcoal, real smoke

Nothing here is microwaved. The grill runs on charcoal because that's what the flavour needs.

Open till midnight

Koramangala eats late. So does Shawaya Souk — one of the few grills on the strip still firing at 11pm.
